How it works

About Eleven Jams Sessions

“Better than a jam”

Eleven Jams sessions are organized, pre-planned, and recorded.

How sessions come together

1

Musician matching

Based on your instruments, interests, and availability, I put together a group of 4–5 musicians whose strengths complement each other. Not everyone who signs up will get scheduled — it depends on how well everything lines up. The more people who sign up, the better the chances are for matching. So tell your like minded friends to sign up!

2

Theme & setlist

Each session has a theme — a decade, a genre, or a specific artist. I select 5-6 songs that work well for that lineup. Every musician gets the full setlist, reference recordings, and any notes well before the session date.

3

Scheduling

Session dates are confirmed only when every musician in the group has confirmed. You'll receive communication via your preferred method (text or email). If you can't make it, let me know as early as possible — cancelling more than twice means you won't be invited again.

4

Session day

Show up on time. Everything is already set up. We do a quick IEM mix check for each musician, then we play. Each song gets a couple of takes. We don't stop to debate arrangements — that's what the pre-session prep is for.

Non-negotiable rules

These exist because they affect everyone's experience. They are not flexible.

On time means on time

Showing up late holds up the entire session. If you're late, you won't be invited again. No exceptions.

Come prepared

Know the songs before you arrive. We are not a rehearsal. We will not figure out the arrangement on the day. If you show up unprepared, you won't be invited again.

No noodling

Do not play your instrument while others are soundchecking, while people are talking, or during any pause in the session. It's disrespectful and makes it impossible to work.

Also: No drugs, no smoking on the premises. Light alcohol is fine as long as you can drive home safely. No arguments about politics or religion.

Logistics

What do I need to bring?

Your instrument and your sticks if you're a drummer. I have guitar, bass, keys, and a full drum kit. If you want to use your own gear that's fine — just let me know in advance.

What about IEMs?

We use in-ear monitors at every session. I provide the transmitter packs and earphones, or you can use your own IEMs if you have a preference. There are no floor wedges or PA speakers in the playing space — IEMs only.

Will we use a click track?

Yes. The click goes to everyone's IEM mix. Backing tracks (if we use them) are also synced to the click. If playing to a click is not something you're comfortable with, Eleven Jams probably isn't a good fit.

Will the session be recorded?

Yes. Every session is recorded multi-track. After mixing, recordings will be shared privately with everyone who was part of that session through this site.

Can I hear recordings from past sessions?

Past session recordings are only visible to the musicians who participated. They are not publicly shared.

What if I need to cancel?

Life happens. Text or email me as soon as you know. Cancelling once is understandable. Cancelling twice is the limit — a third cancellation means you won't be invited to future sessions.

The phone call

Before anyone gets added to the active roster, we have a short phone call. This isn't an audition — it's just a chance to talk, confirm we're on the same page, and make sure Eleven Jams is actually a good fit for you. You can ask questions too.
